Experiences
Al Biernat
Dallas Texas
While sitting in my hotel room on
a business trip to Dallas, I had a hankering for a good
steak. I asked at the front desk of the hotel
for a recommendation and Al Biernat was their cheerful
reply. Hungry and with little to do that night,
I was game for trying out this apparently well loved
Dallas landmark.
When I arrived at the restaurant,
I was pleasantly surprised to experience an elegant
yet spirited atmophere to the place. I was greeted
by lively music (a little loud for my taste) and a warm
and sincere host. Inside was a modern decore with
a few rustic touches.
The dinner menu was filled with various
seafood appetizers and an array of Allen
Brother’s steaks for entrees that would make
any man cry. I decided to start with Potato Crusted
Calamari, Diavolo & Aioli. They were wonderfully
light and delicious and the Alioli, slightly tart, made
a wonderful marriage of flavors.
Now for the really good stuff.
For my main I ordered a Chicago Porterhouse, cooked
medium, with a side of whipped sweet potatoes.
When it arrived at my table, my heart leapt. This
beautiful cut of meat sitting so regally on a white
plate aside glowing sweet potatoes was calling to me...and
so I must answer the call.
It was magnificant. The tender, almost
buttery texture made me melt in my seat. On the
outside the lines of the grill marked its spot so notably.
I've always had a soft spot for sweet potatoes and these
warmly whipped potatoes were a wonderful compliment
to my steak.
I hope that business brings me back
to Dallas soon.
